The
University of Alcalá is one of the oldest in Europe. It was founded by Cardenal
Cisneros in 1499, based on the Estudios Generales de Alcalá, dating from 1293.
Today the Universidad de Alcalá, only 30 km far from Madrid, counts with 26,000
students and three different campuses. A wide range of 42 different of BA degrees
are taught in the University, including subjects like Humanities, Computer
Science, Law, Medicine or Environmental Sciences. We also teach 35 PHD programs
and 40 MA degrees. The main aim of the University is to keep up its excellent
standards of teaching and research, as well as its renown in all fields, and to
encourage projects that enhance the collaboration among of educational
institutions all over world.
The
University of Alcalá has been considered by UNESCO to be World Heritage,
because of its long history and its key role in the spread of the Spanish
language and culture.
